How I met Naamiee

Met her today, in Ottawa, downtown, at the Rideau Centre. She’s a nice girl. We talked mostly about “green” stuff because that was a goal we had in common (Give “Carbon Neutral Gift Certificates” to friends and family members). We talked about what we’d like to do for the environment in the future, what kind of music and movies we like, etc. I had fun. I was nervous at the beginning though but that went away quickly.

Why I admire Brendan Fraser

I’ve always like Brendan Fraser as an actor. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out he was Canadian. I first saw him in School Ties when (I think) I was in 10th grade. The teacher showed us the movie and we had to do a report on it (ya know, like a book report, but not having to read a darn book – I wasn’t much of a reader back then). Just this past year I saw an old interview from when he was making the movie School Ties on ET (Entertainment Tonight). I don’t exatcly remember what he said, but it struck me so much and I thought to myself, “what a nice guy”, “he feels just like I do and a lot of other people do”. What he said was something like: Who cares what race or ethnicity you are, we’re all the same. Everybody is equal. Something along those lines. I’ve been searching the Internet like crazy for quotes from this interview, if they exist. Heck, maybe I should email ET and ask them.

Why I admire Jeff Skoll

What linda ~ piglet said in her entry sums it up pretty well: http://www.43people.com/profile/view/515655

I think I first heard of Jeff Skoll a while back on TV, but just for a little bit and I hadn’t really caught his name. Then I saw a story on him the other day on how he makes movies with a purpose, movies that change the world. And then they showed Robert Redford who talked about him. He said he’s never met someone like Jeff who just gives and gives, out of the goodness of his heart and wants nothing in return. Jeff is a good-hearted guy who loves to help people. I would love to meet him and tell him that. I would love to change the world (or at least try and help any way I can) the way he does.

Why I want to meet Jennifer Love Hewitt

I saw her a couple of months ago on Jay Leno or David Letterman (don’t remember which one) and she had such energy, such spirit. She seems like person that is fun to hang out with. If I ever meet her I’d like to tell her how much I like her and of course get her autograph.

Why I want to meet Ellen Degeneres

And why I admire her. She makes me laugh so much! She loves to help people and make people laugh genuinely. She has such a big heart and changes people’s live for the better everyday. I’d love to get her autograph.

A story about Alex Jamieson

Like everyone, I first saw Alex on “Super Size Me”. It’s great that she was there for Morgan after his McDonald’s “journey”. I was always a big fan of McDonald’s growing up, like most children. Later on, when I was a bit older, I’d only go to McDonald’s once in a while but after “Super Size Me”, I’ll never set foot in another McDonald’s to eat something. Not even the salads, I don’t want to give my money to people (excuse my language) who sell crap. I never (or almost never) go out anywhere to eat anymore. I’ve got this article (I think from the Ottawa Sun or Ottawa Citizen) at home about Morgan Spurlock and Alex. Alex gives tips for breaking the cycle of unhealthy eating. A lot of stuff I knew and was doing before, but a lot of her tips I did not know of, and I am very happy to have read this article. My fiancée is currently reading her book (The Great American Detox Diet: 8 Weeks to Weight Loss and Well-Being), when he’s done, it’s my turn. ~ I’d love to meet her :D

Why I admire Mac Bledsoe

I’ve loved him and what he stands for ever since I saw him on 20/20 with Barbara Walters. Since then, I have read all his books, Parenting With Dignity: A five-point plan for raising responsible, independent kids and Parenting with Dignity: The Early Years. He also has DVD’s and Videos which I haven’t seen yet. I would love to meet him and tell him how he changed my way of thinking about parenting! I do not have any children yet, but at least I’ll be prepared. Also, I have nieces and nephews that can benefit from what I have learned. Thank you Mac. :D

Why I admire Kate Mulgrew

I loved her on Star Trek Voyager. Captain Kathryn Janeway (Kate) and B’Elanna Torres (Roxann Dawson) were my favorites. I’d love to meet her and get her autograph. I actually just found out she’s in the play Tea @ Five. I’ve never seen a play before, but I would LOVE to see that one :) ~ I love her involvement with the Alzheimer’s Association. She is their spokesperson and a committed fundraiser.

Why I admire Roxann Dawson

I’ve always liked her on Star Trek Voyager. One day I went on her website. I just wanted to know a bit about her. I went on her “Passions” link. She says which books, movies she likes. Then I see this book, The Lost Daughters of China by Karin Evans. If it hadn’t been for her I wouldn’t have known about this book. This book is what made me want to adopt a chinese baby girl. I love Roxann’s dedication and support for charities like ”The Half the Sky Foundation”.

Why I want to meet Brent Butt

I love watching his show, “Corner Gas” and Brent is so funny (as well as the rest of the cast). I’d just like to see what he’s like in real life and get his autograph. I’d like to meet him just because.
